Starbucks announces the arrival of Jamaica Blue Mountain® coffee, one of the most exotic coffees in the world and available only at Starbucks stores with a Clover® brewer in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Portland, Ore, San Francisco and Seattle starting on June 29, 2010 through August, 30, 2010 while supplies last. Starbucks will offer Jamaica Blue Mountain® as whole bean coffee to make at home, or by the cup through the Clover® brewer. It will be available for a suggested retail price of$40 for a half pound and $5 for a Grande (16 oz.) cup of Clover® brewed coffee.
This rare and exceptional coffee is grown by farmers in the St. Andrew, St. Thomas and Portland Blue Mountain regions of the eastern most part of the beautiful island of Jamaica. The unroasted coffee is shipped in iconic wooden barrels rather than burlap bags. Grown at elevations up to 5,000 feet, the terrain, soil, rainfall and Blue Mountain mist create the ideal conditions for quality coffee, resulting in a balanced coffee with mild citrus notes, a smooth milk chocolate finish and an intense aroma. Jamaica Blue Mountain® has only been offered twice in Starbucks history.
